After celebrating over 40 years of custom frame building, Rich has officially retired from building custom bicycles.

Handcrafted the finest custom frame sets in the foothills of Golden, Colorado (home of Coors Brewery and Colorado School of Mines) since 1979. A native of Colorado, Rich Gängl, has 40+ years of racing experience with over 100 career victories on the road and track. His extensive experience has produced some of the finest custom bicycles. Rich’s frames have been ridden to numerous victories at World, National and State championships.

Gängl Custom Cycles was a one-man operation. Rich designed and built his frame jigs, oven and other fixtures seen in the shop. Road, track, cycle-cross, fixed gear and touring/Randonneur bicycles were built using steel or titanium tubing from manufacturers including Reynolds, Columbus, True-Temper, Haynes and Sandivik. Over the years, Rich has also built frames using carbon fiber and aluminum. His specialty remained classic lugged or fillet-brazed steel and tig-welded titanium frames. Fitting, frame design, building, painting and assembly were all done in house. He personally painted each frame and cured paint jobs in his hand-built oven using products from the best manufacturers such as DuPont, PPG, House of Kolors and Matrix.

Along with building custom frame sets, he also restored vintage and classic bicycles to like-new condition. Cyclists are drawn to his bicycles by the incredible paint work and attention to detail that can be found on every frame. Each creation is a true work of art.
